Masters in New Media Design at National Institute of Design (Ahmadabad, India)

Web presence for Archaeological Site

Introduction

Lothal (‘a place of dead’ in local language Gujrati) is situated 80km south from Ahmedabad. It is a 2700BC old commercial town during Harappa civilization. Survey of India has constructed a museum in the vicinity of this site.
 
On site visit and analysis following problems were discovered

  • Lack of a source of authentic information (corresponding Wikipedia link has mostly textual information)

  • Static display of the artifacts and the information stalled the enthusiasm of the visitors

  • Absence of an official website for Lothal as an authentic information source

Web Site Features

  • Interactive Map for Archeological Site and Museum

  • Categorization of different artifacts based on metadata, and ability to search the artifacts

Carbocules
(Multiplayer Game Concept )

Introduction

A multiplayer game based on the behavior of ants.

Process

Observation of elements in nature and applying the nature of behavior in a relative application.
 
Observations
-An individual ant shall carry maximum load and won’t share it unless it is really required.
-There seems to be competition and assistance at the same time between ants from the same colony.
-The behavior of the ant change according to the environment.
-One ant colony fight with another for food.
 
Target Group
Students or elder people above the age group of 13 
 
Game Play
There shall be four teams of five players each. Every player has 10 carbon atoms. The player has to grab the hydrogen atoms and make bond with another carbon atom from his team. The target is to form chain of hydrocarbon molecule with maximum number of hydrogen atoms in it (i.e. saturated hydrocarbon). Player can make and break the bond with hydrogen atom or carbon atom. Player can make single, double or triple bond with another carbon atom.
